Learn More about Restoration Activities at Lake Sammamish State Park at the Restoration Open House April 3rd

Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park, Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership, and the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust invite you to attend our Restoration Open House April 3, 2025 starting at 5:00 pm at the Meadows Shelter at Lake Sammamish State Park. The Restoration Open House will be an opportunity to learn about what is happening in your local state park to benefit salmon and other wildlife and improve the visitor experience.  The highlight of the evening will be a presentation starting at 6 pm followed by site tours led by Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust staff and friends to discuss the Issaquah Creek Restoration Project, which is kicking off this summer. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to learn more about this exciting project!

As you enjoy light refreshments, we welcome you to explore the partner tables from 5 pm - 6 pm and talk to staff from the City of Issaquah, Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park, Snoqualmie Indian Tribe and others about the work happening in and around Lake Sammamish State Park until the main presentation starts at 6 pm. A lot has happened in the park to encourage native species to thrive and more is being planned to improve fish passage and native habitat for birds and other wildlife.

The Issaquah Creek Restoration Project, the highlight of the evening, has been more than ten years in the making, and we can’t wait to share more about how it’s coming to life in the park this summer! With careful planning and collaboration, the Greenway Trust is leading this complex restoration effort to reconnect the creek to its floodplain, add large wood for fish refuge, and restore native vegetation—all to support struggling Chinook salmon. A helicopter will be used to place logs in the stream, helping to kickstart natural processes that will shape a healthier, more resilient waterway for salmon survival. Following the presentation, attendees can join a walking tour to view the project site up close and have a more in-depth discussion about the work and its desired impacts.

We hope you join us for this engaging discussion to learn more about the shared work to improve Lake Sammamish State Park for all.
